Modern Bath with Old World Style

Remodeling

This 2nd floor bathroom was carved out of the sloped ceilings in a four-gable century old home.  Not only did it add much needed functionality for the family, but careful design maximized the available space between the sloped ceilings and yielded what feels like a very large bathroom.  The bulls eye header blocks and fluted woodwork were created in a scaled-down version to mimic the woodwork in the rest of this period home.  A stained glass technique was applied to the windows to provide privacy and still permit outside light.  The original plank floors were sanded down, stained and sealed with five coats of polyurethane, bringing the finishing touch to an old world feel of comfort and style.
